A MUFAKOSE man has been slapped with a 12-year jail term after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting his neighbour’s four-year-old daughter. Noah Tsomu (62), who initially pleaded not guilty, was convicted after a full trial. Harare regional magistrate, Gloria Takundwa, sentenced him to 16 years, four of which were suspended on condition he doesn’t commit a similar offence, in the next five years. The State, represented by Cecelia Mashingaidze, proved that on February 1, at around 6pm, Tsomu sexually assaulted the four-year-old. The child’s mother testified that when she returned, from some nearby shops, her daughter was missing. She testified that she later saw the baby leaving Tsomu’s house and noticed that her skirt and pants were worn the wrong way. When she asked her what had happened, the child told her Tsomu had touched her private parts and kissed her on the mouth.
