The opening of schools yesterday came up with some schools, especially in urban areas, had fewer than expected teachers with some teachers reporting in but not teaching. In Harare, pupils were sent home due to the unavailability of teachers. Many teachers did not report for duty in many provinces and there was a huge turnout of both teachers and learners. Some teachers turned out due to the fact that they did not pay their school fees.
